Dr. Emily Dennison

I graduated from Dental school in 2013. I entered the brave, new world of dentistry with a hopeful mind and heart. After practicing for almost a decade, I discovered a world that I believed needed something different. A world that needed some improvement and maybe a touch of science. I was beating my head against the wall. Things did not make sense. I had patients who were brushing and flossing three times a day and still had rampant cavities or periodontal disease. I was making holes in teeth and filling them with materials only to watch them eventually break down due to new areas of decay. I was seeing kids with similar diets and oral hygiene habits yet one had a mouth full of cavities and the other one escaped unscathed. Why do some children end up needing a trusted and local kid’s dentist while others have a wonderful alignment of teeth?

I wanted answers. I wanted a better solution for my three little kiddos (Josie, Elise, and Sloane). So I started digging. I started learning about the oral microbiome, diets, minimally invasive approaches, saliva testing, and sleep disordered breathing.

I wanted a different type of dentistry—a dentistry that focuses on dental wellness, a dentistry that focuses on a new model of Prevent, Protect, Preserve, a dentistry that makes our entire bodies healthier.

I either had to make this leap or I was going to quit. I couldn’t continue to butcher teeth, cause pain, and make the patient believe it was for the best when I myself didn’t see it that way.

Dr. Dennison’s greatest joy in life is making people smile. That’s why she chose a profession in dentistry. She strives to make every appointment comfortable for her patients. Dr. Dennison does not want anything to stand between her patients and their dreams for a healthy, beautiful smile.
